CCC 965 After her Son's Ascension, Mary "aided the beginnings of the Church by her prayers." In her association with the apostles and several women, "we also see Mary by her prayers imploring the gift of the Spirit, who had already overshadowed her in the Annunciation."
Mother's life serves as an example for the Church as a whole, as well as for the every pilgrim within the Church. She prepared the Apostles to experience at Pentecost what she experienced in the Annunciation. Her praise of the Magnificat is like the praise of the Apostles in various tongues, or the praise of a sinner who experiences of infilling of the Holy Spirit. All nations over centuries now witness the blessedness of the Church, as all people are invited to see the holiness and blessedness of a converted sinner. One day the Church will also pass from one world into the next, as will we.
